Building Permit Information
Boyertown Borough enacted Ordinance Number 04-04 on June 7 th , 2004 electing to administer and enforce the provisions of the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act, Act 45 of 1999 and adopting the Uniform Construction Code, contained in 34 Pa. Code, Chapter 401 - 405, as amended from time to time.
Technicon Enterprises II is retained by the Borough as the Building Code Official to undertake the administration and enforcement of the Uniform Construction Code.
The purpose of the Code is to promote the general health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Borough of Boyertown and to conform to the requirements of the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act promulgated by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
The Uniform Construction Code adopts the International Building Code (IBC) as the code standard.
Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required permit. Zoning Permits
Zoning permits are required for the following structures having a building area less than 1,000 square feet, and is accessory to a detached one or two family dwelling, and multi-family dwelling units: (link to fee schedule & application)
- Detached Carport
- Detached private garage less than 1,000 square feet
- Greenhouse
- Sheds
- Uncovered decks and patios, with a floor height of 30" or less above finished grade
- Fences no more than 6'0" in height
- Signs
- Swimming Pools

Use and Occupancy Permit
A Use and Occupancy Permit is required for a change of use of an existing building to a similar type use, with no structural alterations.

The Borough of Boyertown Zoning Hearing Board has the authority to hear applications for variances, special exceptions, appeals from the determination of the Zoning Officer, and validity challenges.
The fee for a Zoning Hearing Appeal is $350 for residential or commercial use and $500 of an industrial use.
